Tips on being Safe

Always put your safety first. It is exciting to meet someone you have never met before. However, Meetup and Chill recommend that you always have a good idea of what type of person you are meeting up with when first meeting with anyone. Below are some excellent safety tips that may be helpful when meeting a person for the first time!

1. We recommend that you ask many questions about the person you will be meeting. This way, you will have a good idea of what type of person you will be meeting. (Speak on the phone, video chat, text message, etc.).

2.It is a good idea to exchange social media info such as Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, etc.

3. Do a little research on the place and location where you will be meeting; make sure the area is friendly and safe.

4. If possible, do a video chat with the person you will be meeting and make sure they are who they say they are.

5.If your instincts tell you something is off, or it feels like it is not safe to meet someone, DO NOT GO.

6.Always let someone else know who you are meeting and the place(s) you plan to go with this person.

7. Do not exchange any personal information such as credit cards, social security numbers, home or work address.

8. Avoid sharing details such as your children’s names, where they go to school, or their ages or genders.

9.Make sure that everyone you meet is at least 18 years or older. Meetup and Chill prohibit anyone underage from using the site. If you encounter anyone underage, please report the profile to us immediately.

10. Be in control of your transportation. It would help if you controlled how you get to the location where you have planned on meeting. This way, if you feel uncomfortable with a person, you can leave as soon as possible.

11.If you feel like someone’s behavior is inappropriate while meeting up, make sure to leave right away and immediately report them to us.
